Hii my beauties 💋 !!
Let’s talk shopping, you must see me buy all these makeup products and think, damnnn she shops!! I mean yeah, that’s part of my job as a beauty blogger to try out new stuff (plus is kinda fun to keep trying new stuff). Butttt, behind all that shopping is a carefully drawn out strategy that helps me guide on what to buy and what not to buy, and that is what I will talk about in today’s post.
Let’s get into my thought process:
As you might have seen, from those little glimpses I give you on my insta stories, I have A LOT of makeup, I mean not a lot, but definitely more than the average consumer, so because I do have all that (and love every single product I have) the process of buying new makeup is very strict, before buying anything I ask myself these 6 questions:
- Do I own anything from this brand?
- Do I like the brand?
- Do I own anything similar?
- Is it special? What does this makeup product offer that the others I have don’t?
- Can I afford it?
- Is it worth the price?
And only if I answer all these questions positively I buy that product, otherwise it’s just not worth it.
Let me share an example of something I bought recently, Fenty Beauty’s new highlighter, Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil:
- Do I own anything from this brand?
Yes, quite a few products actually.
- Do I like the brand?
Yes, I do like the brand and its products.
- Do I own anything similar?
I do own other highlighters, but I don’t think I own anything like this.
- Is it special? What does this makeup product offer that others don’t?
It’s a completely different product and formulation. It’s something new and different.
- Can I afford it?
Well, yeah.
- Is it worth the price?
I think so.
So as you can see, this is my thinking process before buying any new makeup product. I would like to add that I am super strict about some products, such as eyeshadows because I do use them less often and it’s quite easy to get repetitive with eyeshadow, and less strict about lip products because, well I LOVEEEE buying lipsticks and you can tell by my collection, LOL, plus it’s something I wear every single day.
Other makeup products such as mascaras, brow pencils and eyeliners I prefer buying at the drugstore because it’s something that I use up quickly and quite frankly, drugstore has really good ones. And other products I like buying from both sections, drugstore and high-end.
So, this is my shopping strategy, what is yours? Let’s chat about it below.
