Hii my beauties 💋 💋 !!
We all have this question, which one is actually better? The Original Beauty Blender (BB) or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (MCS)?
I also had the same question, and when I finally got a chance to get the Real Techniques one I got it.
So, on today’s post I will be comparing the performance of these two beauty sponges, so let’s get into it.
Let’s check the FACTS on each and one of them:
About the Beauty Blender:
- Price: $20
- Shape: Egg like shape with rounded sides and a precision tip
- Material: Foam
- Recommended use time: 3 months\
- Colors: 7
- Can be used dry or dampened
About the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:
- Price: $6
- Shape: Rounded sides, with a precision tip and a flat edge
- Recommended use time: 1-3 months
- Colors: 1
- Can be used dry or dampened
Now let’s COMPARE THE PERFORMANCE of both of these:
Price is the first thing we notice, and as you can see the Beauty Blender is way more expensive than the Miracle Complexion Sponge.
But leaving that aside, performance wise I could see that the Miracle Complexion Sponge sucked more product in than the Beauty Blender, which means you have to dip in product more times.
Even though the Miracle Complexion Sponge has a flat side, perfect for baking and setting powder, it doesn’t apply powder as well as the BB, it grabs onto products a bit more.
And, if you compare the finishes of both of these sponges, the Beauty Blender has a better finish because it applies the product well.
Now for some CARE TIPS:
To prolong its lifespan (and for it to not accumulate bacteria) I wash it every single time after I have used it, in order to avoid skin irritation
You can clean with a Beauty Blender Solid cleanser (soap bar) or a Beauty Blender liquid cleanser (Liquid soap), but I prefer the solid.
So, to CONCLUDE this I prefer the Beauty Blender over the Miracle Complexion Sponge, even though it is more expensive, but the finish of the BB is way better, and I wouldn’t replace that for anything. Plus the Beauty Blender is easier to clean.
Hope you enjoyed this comparison between these two beauty sponges.

I tried out the RT sponge a while back, before I ever got the BB, and I didn’t like it. It was so stiff, and when I tried to wet it it broke apart. I really like the BB. A good drugstore alternative are the ecotools sponges, or I’ve heard great things of the l’oreal sponge as well.

Same, I was disappointed by it, because it was hyped up by other beauty influencers. I have not tried those ones, I will get them a whirl, thank you xx

I did a post on these two as well a few months ago, i think BB wins for me overall too. The RT one is good for everday/rough use, but BB is perfect for full glam face etc! Good post!
