Hii my beauties đ đ !!
Todayâs post is some food for thought, and the topic is CONSUMERISM.
Itâs safe to say that todayâs society is in fact consumerist.
Letâs start by defining the word, consumerism is the fact or practice of an increasing consumption of goods (by a lot).
We see something on someone or somewhere, we feel the need to have it and we buy it, as simple as that. We might not need it, but because we saw it with someone we have to have it to, and that my friends is the power of an influencer.
In todayâs society FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is real, even if we donât have the money to keep up with everything, we have the need to have those things. And why? Because we donât want to be out of that âcool circleâ.
It is good for the economy, of course, but itâs really bad for our savings. Even though we canât afford it we end up buying it just to fit in. We donât need to spend more than what we can afford, just to fit in
Letâs take note, we donât need everything that is out there, especially what we cannot afford it!!
And the main reason behind this consumerism is looking expensive, yes, not being expensive but looking expensive, thatâs the goal nowadays, especially in the beauty and fashion industry.
We see all the beauty and fashion influencers with the latest stuff and end up wanting it, but what we donât know is that even their stuff is received for PR purposes.
We should learn to live within our means. Sometimes itâs ok to buy stuff that we see out there, but it shouldnât break the bank. We should start to draw the line between want and need.
As simple as that, donât need it, donât buy it.
So please, next time when you think you want something expensive ask yourselfÂ:
- Do I need it?
- Can I afford it?
- Will it add value to my everyday life?
And only buy it if the answers to the questions above are all yes.
Hope you enjoyed this little rant, let me know what your take is on consumerism, I would love to know!

Great post!! I think this message is especially important for younger people who may not be aware that most bloggers are businesses that work with other companies to promote products. Might not sound as exciting as “Lifestyle Blogger”, but that’s the truth. Thanks for the great post đ

Thank you so much. For sure, there is the whole backstage work that no one gets to see, and people end up thinking that the influencers live this amazing and fabulous life.

Love this post! I think you have hit it square on the head. Sometimes we, as people, just have to much stuff.

Great post! Consumption is necessary for survival, yes, but a consumerist mindset is unsustainable. We should question the intrinsic value of an object before any purchase, ask ourselves: “Will this truly add value to my life?” I discuss minimalism on my own blog, so it’s nice to read others echoing their opinions and offering advice on how to CONSUME BETTER.
